Xopher Reed OnLive Starts its Hype Machine

Posted by Xopher Reed On March - 10 - 2010   1 COMMENT | 40 views

This is their plan for the 'consoles' that might be rolling out sometime next year 2011.

We here at MediaWhoreNetwork have been following the buildup of the two giant cloud computer gaming companies since we were founded back in 2008. Right now it’s Dave Perry’s Gaikai vs the guys at OnLive. The promise of not needing any high end computing system / graphics card to play some of the most awesome PC games or console games out on the market is very promising, but at the same time very scary for guys like me who collect games with a passion.

Xopher Reed Super Street Fighter IV – Hakan Trailer

My god, I can't believe how much of my life has been devoted to this game.

The only thing that could have saved this game series from becoming the endless set of repeated games with additional characters and modes (which I lived through with Street Fighter II, mind you) was adding in a character that could make the people playing laugh their asses off. They’ve done just that with Hakan.

Xopher Reed Lost Planet 2 – Universe Sizzle Trailer

I can't tell if i'm looking at a head or an ass of an akrid...

I find it fitting that there’s a train in the trailer when I’m about to start up the hype-train for this game. Following the demo that came out a while back, the guys at Capcom have now released a trailer that shows a hell of a lot more than you’ve seen in the others and more than the demo could.

Not only does the game come out at that time, but so does the movie...it's like some sort of mega-movie-tie-in deal. Where have I seen this before?

The folks over at Ubisoft must feel like they have been teasing us long enough. They’ve finally released another video of their upcoming Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands to satiate our appetites for new media. Lucky for us, there’s only a few months left before the latest version of the Prince of Persia franchise is in our grubby hands.

Xopher Reed Fallout: New Vegas – First Screens

Looks almost like the logo for our friend's site @ NegativeGamer

Oh…my…this game has got me so excited. I played the living hell out of Fallout 3 (still playing it in fact). It may seem like they took most of the systems from FO3 and just copy pasted the code to New Vegas, but I can see some subtle differences that has got me squealing in delight.

Timothy Garza Wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?

Posted by Timothy Garza On March - 4 - 2010   1 COMMENT | 21 views

That would be the blaring horn in Battlefield Bad Company 2. If you’re playing Conquest mode and your team gets below 10 tickets (respawns) you’ll hear this for the remainder of the match. Funny enough, the same doesn’t occur in Rush mode, so I think I’ll be staying there until this is fixed. Seriously, I thought someone’s car alarm was going off in my neighborhood.

Seriously, who makes these games? Oh that’s right, Ubisoft does. How silly of me. Well new screenshots were released and we have some of the best for you to peruse. I have to admit that while I’ve never played or barely heard of this game, the screenshots do look pretty good. And the game has been around since the old Commodore Amiga days; they called it Serf City then.

I think they should have stuck with that name.

I love Valve. Really one of the few amazing game companies out there. As we told you about yesterday, Portal had an update that added an achievement and some strange things came out of it. Well guess what, Valve updated Portal again, today! And what they added may have given us a clue to what is happening. Spoilers after the jump:

Xopher Reed Crysis 2 – New Screens

It'd be cool to actually have one of these suits made, I can't imagine how much ass sweat it'd generate wearing one all the time though.

Christ, are all PC games that release screenshots similar in making ones that are tooo fucking detailed? Seriously, each one of these has stuff in the background that would normally be ignored when in action…but when you look at stills of it all, you can count the damned leaves on each one of the trees. I guess that’s what you can expect when it comes to Crytek.

Xopher Reed Bravo Valve, You Kings of Obscurity

Posted by Xopher Reed On March - 2 - 2010   ZERO COMMENTS | 10 views

could it be, pleaaaaase?!? I want more GladOS, oh and another Jonathan Coulton song couldn't hurt either.

If you haven’t heard, it’s very possible that Valve has released a whole slew of potential Portal 2 artwork and have earned the title of “Kings of Obscurity” by including it all in an update for Portal that features hidden messages in audio format that have to be fed through a hash translator and ancient BBS phone numbers.

Xopher Reed DC Universe Online Releases Some New…Assets?

Posted by Xopher Reed On March - 1 - 2010   ZERO COMMENTS | 5 views

you could call it DC's marketing plan...tits=sales in my book.

DC has released a few new screenshots for the much delayed MMO, DC Universe Online featuring their most…robust Superman relative Power Girl, aka Kara Zor-L. In the screenshots you can catch Kara beating the hell out of a multitude of the rogue gallery of the DCU. The game has been in development hell for ages now, I hope they get a release date this year…cause I want them to remain good on their promise that it’s going to be on the PS3.

Xopher Reed Transformers: War for Cybertron – Trailer

More of this, less of Shia...I swear if I have to hear him do his 'nonononononononono' thing one more time, I'll scream.

The Michael Bay Transformers movies may not be the best movies ever made, I mean, the dialogue is atrocious, but there was one thing that he does really well…and that’s blow shit up. Transformers: War for Cybertron is going to be taking place in the ‘Bay-iverse’, taking place before the events of the first movie when the Autobots came to Earth. It’s got giant robots fighting each other…what else do you need?

Ryan Wilson Super Meat Boy NOT Getting a PS3 Release

Posted by Ryan Wilson On February - 27 - 2010   ZERO COMMENTS | 4 views

In under 140 characters, Team Meat from the highly anticipated and recently delayed Super Meat Boy crushed any hopes of seeing the game on the black box.

Dear All of the Internet: There will NOT be a PS3 version of Super Meat Boy.

This comes as a huge blow, as the game had been delayed initially to announce it was coming to XBLA as a “timed exclusive”, screwing over PC and Wii owners who eagerly waited for the Q1 2010 release that never came.  The game is now said to be coming “later this year”.

Jamie Gibson Just Cause 2 demo coming March 4th

Posted by Jamie Gibson On February - 26 - 2010   1 COMMENT | 10 views

Mike Oldman, Square Enix community manager, has today announced a demo for the upcoming Just Cause 2.  He detailed what would be featuring in it via an interview with Just Cause 2 fan site Panau Island. The facts are;

- One multi-stage faction mission will be available to play

- A racing challenge will also be available

- The demo boundary will be a 35 square mile radius, which you are free to explore without attempting any missions.

- All of Rico’s abilities in the full game will be available in the demo

Later, Oldman announced via his Twitter account that the demo will be released on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam on March 4th, which is next Thursday.

Opinion

I have some hope for this game. The concept of the first game seemed brilliant. Essentially, you were the star of a huge 80s style action film. Unfortunately, the game was a mess and couldn’t live up to the promise. It looks like Avalanche Studios have put a lot of work into the sequel from simple elements such as graphics to the sheer amount of things you can do and play around with in this sandbox game. I just hope the game-play can match it this time around. As for the demo itself, it sounds promising but I remain sceptical about the “35 square mile radius” claim but then I remember the demo for the first game was pretty big so I hope this is the same. It’ll certainly be worth checking out when its released next Thursday.
