Kevin Butler, Sony’s proverbial VP of Everything, has released a new video dealing with the PlayStation Move. While it doesn’t show anything new about the devices that wasn’t already shown at GDC, its a worthy watch simply for its ridiculousness. However, there was one bit of fine print that caught our eye: PlayStation Eye sold seperately. This appears to go completely against what Sony was promising with the device, which was said to come as a pack with the device, an Eye, and a game. Hopefully this is simply an ala carte option for those who happen to already have a PlayStation Eye (all five of you), but nothing can be said for sure.

Mr. Penn…I say this with the utmost respect, shut up already. It’s been proven by my favorite fighter Georges St-Pierre (twice now) that you’re not the ultimate thing in the MMA world. I can understand that you’re one of the more recognizable faces in the MMA world and certainly for the UFC, and this makes you valuable for the game because of the people you’ll draw, but c’mon man…claiming that GSP cheated by having Vaseline rubbed into his body, that’s bad sportsmanship.

Earlier this month, I reported about Activision’s unfortunate cease-and-desist of long-term fan project The Silver Lining, which was meant to act as a spiritual King’s Quest IX. As a long time follower of the project, it was upsetting to see such a high profile project have the rug pulled out from under them so ruthlessly.
Thanks go to the Save the Silver Lining Movement for setting up an interview with not one but four core members of The Silver Lining team, and to the TSL-Game forums for supplying some of the questions.
Released via Twitter, the Crackdown 2 release is set for July 6th in North America, July 9th in Europe. The Agents and Agency are back to combat a new threat to the city, and this time you’ll be doing it in 4 player co-op and 16 player PVP. Above is the new vidoc they released labeled ‘Fun with Friends’. I have been waiting for this one for a long time, and cannot wait to have more co-op hijinx.

As announced on the latest Major Nelson podcast, Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling dropped the pricing bombshell. 1200 spacebucks, or $15 for five multiplayer maps. Of the five, three are new and two are remake maps. The map pack is scheduled to drop on March 30, the same day as the first map pack for Battlefield Bad Company 2. Only BFBC2’s map pack is free if you bought the game. Guess which one I’ll be playing.
Yesterday 2K released their first piece of downloadable content for Bioshock 2. The “Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack” contains an increase in the level cap for multiplayer as well as weapon upgrades, two new characters, trials and masks for the mode. This costs $4.99. However, coming from the 2K forums are comments from customers who have downloaded the DLC and are now saying that the file size for the DLC is only 24kb, if the picture above, taken from the Games for Windows Live download screen, is to be believed. From this, the assumption has been made that the downloadable content is in fact already on disc, as when DLC tends to be this small, it is usually just a key for unlocking on-disc content. If so, then 2K are denying paying customers from content that they already should be able to access.
We have contacted 2K and we will update you if we receive a reply.
Source: 2K Forums
Update: In the same forum thread, 2K Community Manager Elizabeth has admited that the content is on disc as to not “split the player base” due to all parties needing the same content to play MP. Seems like a pretty stupid reason to me.
Got an opinion on the issue of on disc DLC? Just want to rant? Comment here!

We here at MediaWhoreNetwork have been following the buildup of the two giant cloud computer gaming companies since we were founded back in 2008. Right now it’s Dave Perry’s Gaikai vs the guys at OnLive. The promise of not needing any high end computing system / graphics card to play some of the most awesome PC games or console games out on the market is very promising, but at the same time very scary for guys like me who collect games with a passion.

You must have seen them by now, the PlayStation Arc controllers that look like a cross between a Wiimote and a sex toy. The EyeToy mandatory motion sensing peripherals are probably going to be a big topic for the Sony presentation at GDC tonight when the company is set to stream their keynote over Ustream.

The only thing that could have saved this game series from becoming the endless set of repeated games with additional characters and modes (which I lived through with Street Fighter II, mind you) was adding in a character that could make the people playing laugh their asses off. They’ve done just that with Hakan.
