Brad Holman A new Star Fox game? That doesn’t suck??

Posted by Brad Holman On February - 16 - 2010   ZERO COMMENTS | 3 views

I know I’m probably admitting my inner furry with this statement but…..I FREAKING LOVE STAR FOX! Now that you know I’m completely biased, watch the demo below.

Yeah, I’m totally geeking out right now.

A group of independent developers are making a new Star Fox game, Shadows of Lylat. And it’s quite the team they have assembled…at least in numbers. Six years in development so far, if they ever truly release it, Shadows of Lylat will be free to play. Or at least it will be if it gets released before Nintendo shuts them down. Because, you know, Miyamoto totally has another Star Fox Assault/Adventure planned and making a Star Fox game where you – I don’t know, SHOOT SOMEONE – is just too difficult and not cute enough.

Ryan Wilson It Came from Obscurity: Heavy Metal’s B-17

Heavy Metal (1981)Welcome back to It Came from Obscurity, a regular feature where I adopt a poor neglected movie, then proceed to parade it around for your amusement.  This week’s selection may come as a surprise to you.  Many people have heard of this film, and those who hadn’t learned of its existence through an episode of South Park a season back. But how many of you truly watched it?…

That’s what I thought.

Those of you lucky enough to see it might be asking why I’d recommend a movie known mainly for its buxom women and its heavy metal soundtrack.  To those I present this question:  Have you truly watched it?

I present to you Heavy Metal, and the oft-forgotten scene “B-17″

Ryan Wilson It Came from Obscurity: I Love Sarah Jane

This week’s It Came from Obscurity is a short one.  No, I haven’t run out of ideas, nor am I being lazy.  This week’s zombie movie recommendation is the short film I Love Sarah Jane, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival a year prior.  However, unlike most Sundance selections, you don’t have to be a goatee wearing, espresso sipping beatnik to enjoy it.  The film is like a post apocalyptic Lord of the Flies, and I guarantee its 14 minute runtime will leave you begging for more.

Wild Zero (2000)Welcome, faithful readers, to another edition of It Came from Obscurity, a regular feature where I take the metaphysical chainsaw to the swarms of mainstream movies to rescue the hidden gems left behind.  This week, I bring you the greatest movie about a band I have ever seen.  Better than This is Spinal Tap. Better than Pink Floyd’s The Wall. Yes, even better than Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny. I bring you Wild Zero, featuring Japanese punk band Guitar Wolf.

Dead & Breakfast (2004)Welcome to week 2 of a special Zombie edition of It Came from Obscurity, where I dive to the bottom of the DVD bin and come back up with a hidden gem.  This week is no exception, as I bring you the very funny, yet little known zombie comedy Dead & Breakfast.

White Zombie (1932)

Continuing with this summer’s theme of things rising from the dead, I have consulted the Necronomicon to bring back It Came from Obscurity, a feature long thought dead.  But the return of this feature has a price: I must feed it weekly, or else it will turn on me.  To befriend the feature again, I have chosen a vintage White Zombie.

Distorted View Daily

In this week’s edition of It Came from Obscurity I will take a look at one of my favorite podcasts (besides Red Light Roundtable, of course), Distorted View Daily.

Welcome back faithful reader(s) to another installment of It Came from Obscurity. This week, we’re going to look into two cover bands that set themselves apart from the sea of cover bands that already exist. Without further ado, lets get right into them.

Kidz Bop 13, 100 times better than Kidz Bop 12
Kidz Bop

Since their humble beginnings in 2001 with renditions of such hits as Blue (Da Ba Dee) and Oops…I Did It Again, Kidz Bop has charmed its way into the hearts of…

Oh who am I kidding?? Kidz Bop is terrible! Hit the jump for the real recommendations.

Ryan Wilson It Came from Obscurity: Paullelujah

MC Paul Barman - Paullelujah!

Let me make myself clear, I hate rap music. I feel that the majority of rap is uninspired lyrics (often about how rich they are) and bad rhyming (since when did club rhyme with club?) set to someone else’s music. Don’t believe me? Listen to practically any rap song.

So what makes MC Paul Barman so much better in my eyes?

Mutant League Football

I have never been big into sports. Besides a few years of baseball and karate, my experience with sports was limited to those forced upon me by the education system. The same apathy carried over to video games. In order for a sports game to interest me, it had to be the furthest from the sport as possible.

Mutant League Football on the Sega Genesis is one such game.

Repo! The Genetic Opera

As evident in a previous episode of Red Light Roundtable, we here at MediaWhoreNetwork are big fans of musicals. However, you won’t see us going to Broadway to see the umpteenth performance of “Mamma Mia!”. We like our musicals strange and unique (sorry ABBA, but another rendition of “Dancing Queen” and I’ll have to sodomize myself with a broken salt shaker). Repo!: The Genetic Opera is as strange and unique as you can get.

Ryan Wilson It Came from Obscurity: The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra

The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra

Welcome to the first article in a new weekly feature, aptly titled It Came from Obscurity. This feature will focus on the media that most people never knew existed. The movies you’d find on the bottom of the bargain bin. The games that get overshadowed by the Halos and the Metal Gear Solids of the world. The albums the radio refuses to play. Every week, I will give one of these poor releases a chance at life again.

As a huge fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, I have a respect for the “so bad it’s good” movie. The most common of these being the 1950’s science fiction movie, with their scatterbrained plots and terrible acting. On first glance, The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra seems like the poster child of this era of movies.

With one exception…
