There is a new public library near where we live. As you enter and walk the long hallway to your left there is a glass enclosure where there is currently a Star Wars exhibit of sorts. Just from those first twenty or so steps in, I knew this was my kind of place. Being brand new, this library is very high tech. You return books on a conveyor belt that scans the UPC codes and confirms them as returned in-route to being dumped into the large collection bin. You check out a book by showing your library card to a scanner, and simply laying your book on the table, Science! then takes care of the rest for you.

If you didn’t know already, the first piece of upcoming DLC for Resident Evil 5, Lost in Nightmares was released today. The DLC chapter consists of Chris and Jill’s time in the Spencer Mansion before the encounter with Wesker that Chris mentions during a cut scene in the main game. It also begins the extended Mercenaries mode by giving you Barry Burton, of the first game and Sandwich fame, and Excella, one of the game’s antagonists. Rebecca Chambers of the first game and its prequel is also available, but needs to be unlocked. Being a big RE fan, it has been a day one purchase of mine for a while, especially with the similarities between Spencer’s mansion and the original game’s mansion. Hit the jump for a short review on the chapter itself.

We had a few great games coming out last week, but for me, THE game to get was Dante’s Inferno. We caught wind of the game not being sold in the Middle East. This raises a couple of poignant questions.
1) Are they afraid of offending Muslim people because it’s a story of a guy going to hell to fight Satan?
2) Did the game developers include Muhammad in the game (Who was residing in the 8th Circle of Hell in Dante’s poem)?

That’s right bitches, we’re back! Thanks to that 5 month hiatus after PAX which nearly everyone on the panel got infected with convention SARS (Swine-flu to be exact), we’re all rested up and ready to bring the pain in what I’d like to think as a rebooting of the Red-Light Roundtable. On the episode we get into what each of us has been up to for the past 5 months and more!

Two-thousand-and-nine, a year in which many of us expected to be in the middle of Space War I, or locked into a huge battle with the Decepticons of Cybertron. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I want my fucking jetpack or flying car now! Well, at least was a great year for media. After the jump, enjoy what the editors of MediaWhore think of as their top picks of 2009.

Ok so 2009 is finally over…somebody took it out back behind the barn and put a slug in its noggin. I can’t be happier. A huge period of ‘no time’ has finally passed and I now find myself staring, mouth agape over the possibilities this this upcoming year will bring us whores, and all other slaves to the media.
Normally, we’re not the kind to make New Year’s resolutions…but this year we all thought we’d try to add a little levity to the asinine resolutions that people seem to always make.
Finally the day has come for adaptation 25, and I chose to make this one extra special. Before this experiment, I had seen maybe a total of 4 film adaptation of A Christmas Carol, and The Muppet Christmas Carol was always one I kept coming back to. The blend of Michael Caine and an assortment of muppets makes for an extremely enjoyable story. This is also probably the only version I’ve seen that featured Charles Dickens himself as a fourth wall breaking character (played hilarious by Gonzo). I could sing its praises all day, it has fantastic musical numbers, charm, and visual effects. But I’ll leave you with this: make sure this is on the list of movies you see before you die. Its that good.
And so ends day 25. Tune in tomorrow for a recap and epilogue to the entire experiment. Crom bless us, everyone.
It’s Christmas Eve, time for adaptation 24, and I hit a snag. I already had plans for the last two days of this experiment (tune in tomorrow to see which version I watch on Christmas!), and today was supposed to be when I went to the theater and saw the newest adaptation of A Christmas Carol. However, a little blue film from James Cameron has seemingly pushed the movie from every theater surrounding me. So I had to scramble…fast. I turned on the TV and looked for any version I could find that I hadn’t watched yet. A Flintstone Christmas Carol was an option, but it turned out that I had already missed a good portion of the movie.
I never thought these words would escape my mouth, but Martin Lawrence saved me.
Adaptation 24 is episode “Scrooge” from season 5 of the show Martin. Having never seen the show before this point, this episode sure didn’t convince me to continue to do so. The show is your typical 90’s sitcom, full of canned laughter and shame. Maybe its just because the show wasn’t targeted towards me, but I can’t see how this crap could have lasted as long as it did. As for story it can be summed up as this: Martin Lawrence hates Christmas -> 3 Christmas Ghost -> Martin Lawrences loves Christmas. Not a whole lot of depth to this one. There was a surprising little cameo by Jackie Chan though.
