Read that topic again. Let that sink in. Now the first thing you’re thinking to yourself is “But wasn’t Speedy (and crew) considered to be a racist stereotype? How can they bring this to the big screen?”

The answer lies after the jump.

Ryan Wilson Super Meat Boy NOT Getting a PS3 Release

Posted by Ryan Wilson On February - 27 - 2010   ZERO COMMENTS | 8 views

In under 140 characters, Team Meat from the highly anticipated and recently delayed Super Meat Boy crushed any hopes of seeing the game on the black box.

Dear All of the Internet: There will NOT be a PS3 version of Super Meat Boy.

This comes as a huge blow, as the game had been delayed initially to announce it was coming to XBLA as a “timed exclusive”, screwing over PC and Wii owners who eagerly waited for the Q1 2010 release that never came.  The game is now said to be coming “later this year”.

Jamie Gibson Just Cause 2 demo coming March 4th

Posted by Jamie Gibson On February - 26 - 2010   1 COMMENT | 14 views

Mike Oldman, Square Enix community manager, has today announced a demo for the upcoming Just Cause 2.  He detailed what would be featuring in it via an interview with Just Cause 2 fan site Panau Island. The facts are;

- One multi-stage faction mission will be available to play

- A racing challenge will also be available

- The demo boundary will be a 35 square mile radius, which you are free to explore without attempting any missions.

- All of Rico’s abilities in the full game will be available in the demo

Later, Oldman announced via his Twitter account that the demo will be released on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam on March 4th, which is next Thursday.

Opinion

I have some hope for this game. The concept of the first game seemed brilliant. Essentially, you were the star of a huge 80s style action film. Unfortunately, the game was a mess and couldn’t live up to the promise. It looks like Avalanche Studios have put a lot of work into the sequel from simple elements such as graphics to the sheer amount of things you can do and play around with in this sandbox game. I just hope the game-play can match it this time around. As for the demo itself, it sounds promising but I remain sceptical about the “35 square mile radius” claim but then I remember the demo for the first game was pretty big so I hope this is the same. It’ll certainly be worth checking out when its released next Thursday.

The trailer for the game might not be new, but we have the two new screens from THQ’s latest take on the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Space Marine. I have to say, that I still get chills from watching that trailer…these are the kinds of games I used to imagine playing back when I was still playing the tabletop version.

I reckon that I'd shank somebody for a piece of pecan pie right about now...yep, knife in yer guts = me smiling eatin pie.

Well the LA Times did and they worked with the guys at OnLive to put together the pie chart you see above. Pretty interesting and handy for all of you people who might be thinking about getting into the game industry. All I can see is an argument for digital distribution to be widely available NOW.

Xopher Reed Morning Cup o’ Music

I think that if there was a band that every high-school kid should be forced to listen to, it should be the Ben Folds Five. The music that Ben Folds wrote encapsulates the entire teenage angst years that we’ve all gone through while making the listener feel that everything will be ok.

Today’s track is “Army” off the album, The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner…an album EVERYONE should have.

Developed by Sivak Games, Battle Kid is apparently the first platformer to be released for the NES in 15 years. The official game description reads as follows:

“After having uncovered a plot to build a Supermech, you head to an ancient high-tech fortress in an effort to prevent this weapon from being completed. You must navigate through the various sectors of the fortress, while battling its denizens and avoiding its many dangers. Along the way, you will uncover items that will allow progress to new locations of the fortress and grant you new abilities. Over 550 rooms, more than 30 enemy types, and 8 bosses stand between you and victory. Also featured are five difficulty settings and a password system.”

PROOF HAHAHAHA

They’ve been floating around the internet for a day or two, but we’ve finally got our hands on them. It’s definitely a 2-D sonic that is going to be a throwback to the ‘good’ Sonic games of the past. I’m just surprised I’m making this post instead of good ol’ Gibbo, because we all know that the Sonic the Hedgehog stuff is his forte.

Oh man, what looks like the MUST HAVE game for 2010 for the Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2 bust on the scene today with this hot video straight from the bowels of their Media Summit. I can’t wait, it looks like it’s going to have all of the elements we loved from Super Mario Bros. 3, they sweeten the pot by throwing in…YOSHI! He’s back bitches!

Gamers across North America will be able to get ahold of this on May 23rd. EU folks…probably sometime in 2012 because Nintendo sucks at localization for you guys, sorry.

Xopher Reed Red Dead Redemption – Mmmm, Whores

Red Dead Redemption...or as I'd like to think, Blazing Saddles the game.

Rockstar has seriously piqued our interest in this game today by releasing this video of the ‘ladies’ of Red Dead Redemption…I won’t lie, I count only one ‘real’ whore in the game, and she packs a six-shooter…the rest, well you’ll just have to see for yourselves won’t you?

Xopher Reed No More Heroes Paradise – Trailer

I'm not 100% sure of my Japanese skills anymore but I swear she's asking him to oil her up.

Wow, what I don’t know about current video games could fill a book, but I had no idea that there was a port of the Wii-tastic No More Heroes headed to the HD consoles until I ran across this trailer today. Looks like I’ll finally get my chance to join in on the action.
