Ryan Wilson Tim Langdell Resigns from IGDA

Tim Langdell: A Man on the EDGE

Yes, Tim Langdell, the man who claims to have the global trademark on the word “Edge” and will rain lawsuits down upon anyone who tries to use it, has stepped down from his position on the IGDA (International Game Developers Association) Board of Directors after a plethora of developers and gamers alike petitioned for his removal.  Mr. Langdell had this to say on the IGDA message boards:

“I make this decision not because I have done anything wrong — on the contrary I am confident that all accusations against me were unfounded and purely intended to defame, and am confident that I have at all times acted in the best interest of the IGDA and its membership — but because I must make this decision between concluding a process that will show I did no wrong, and having that process irreparably damage the IGDA, I cannot permit the latter to happen. This has to drive my decision today, taking priority over defending myself against these accusations to a conclusion.”

He may have been declawed, but he still feels confident that he’s the victim in all this.  If he succeeds, who knows what’s next?  Grandma’s next 4 letter triple word score in Scrabble may be her last!

No, Seriously, Where is he? Cause this isn't right...

Yup it’s official, the guys at Disney have just bought Marvel and everything associated with them for the hefty sum of…4 billion dollars, that’s 4,000,000,000.00. It’s getting hard to believe this crazy-ass news, next thing you know, people are gonna be telling me that id Software is owned by Bethesda. Oh wait…it is?

Nik Mortimer Hell Yeah! Bad Boys 3 in Development

I’ve never been entirely sure why but I’m a massive fan of Bad Boys 1 & 2.  They’re not great films but they are great fun to watch, especially if you like guns, explosions, fast cars and hot women.  Will Smith has always talked of doing a third film and I’m pretty sure at this stage Martin Lawrence will sign up for anything that gets him noticed, the question is can they afford to get Michael Bay back in the directors chair?

CrocBox A Comic After Our Own Hearts

6 Reasons

If there is anything we like more than video games, comic books or movies here at Media Whore Network it’s bacon.

The smell of it, the taste of it, the texture. Why, some of us might even go as far as to say they lost their genitalia in an unfortunate bacon accident! So when I lay eyes upon this strip from the book 5 Very Good Reasons To Punch A Dolphin In The Mouth (And Other Useful Guides) I can only think of my whore brothers and their one true love; bacon. Surely this is a strip after our greasy, meat clogged hearts.

Jamie Gibson Demo Daze: WET

Posted by Jamie Gibson On August - 29 - 2009   1 COMMENT | 17 views

WET

I remember that when WET first announced, it was a pretty big game. I don’t remember why but I remember there was a lot of hype for the game. Well 2 years later and a publisher change have passed since WET was announced and it looks set to fly under the radar when it’s released next month. However a demo for the game has been released on XBL this week (PSN last week) and I’m willing to try most demos so around 600MB later and it was time to play the WET demo. Hit the jump for my impressions on the short but sweet demo.

I fucking hate Reagan, but the man did provide some great quotes.

Above is an image from Square Enix’s website in Japan, notice anything similar?!? Yup, it looks like Squeenix will be doing all the legwork when it comes to having Modern Combat 2 come out in Japan…oh you’re welcome, by the way, for the translation.

Xopher Reed Microsoft Poland, The Jokes Write Themselves

Posted by Xopher Reed On August - 28 - 2009   ZERO COMMENTS | 9 views

We don't see many of your kind up here in the Polands

I don’t know if any of you out there has seen this yet, but I thought I’d post it because it just made me laugh pretty hard this morning.

The ad above, the one with the black gentleman sitting in the middle was an ad that was created by Microsoft when trying to sell it’s MS Office suite to companies. When the ad was shown in Poland…the distinguished gentleman’s head was replaced with that of a white guy whose head doesn’t even look properly placed.

To top it all off, if you’ll notice, they don’t even bother with replacing the hand of the original model. The jokes like I said, just seem to write themselves don’t they?

Nik Mortimer The Men Who Stare At Goats – Trailer

Posted by Nik Mortimer On August - 28 - 2009   ZERO COMMENTS | 10 views

I’m a massive fan of George Clooney, especially when he does quirky off-beat comedy and his latest film; The Men Who Stare Goats.  Based on Jon Ronson’s  book, Cloonet stars alongside Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey in this true story of a reporter who is chasing after a crazy story. U.S. Army First Earth Battalion unit member Lyn Cassady (Clooney) claims to be part of an experimental U.S. military unit using ancient Chinese mind techniques to develop paranormal powers for American soldiers. This elite experimental group have developed “unparalleled psychic powers to read the enemy’s thoughts, pass through solid walls, and even kill a goat simply by staring at it.”

Aside from the bad voiceover which spoils the trailer the film looks like a lot of fun and  you can’t go wrong with the talent involved, I’m looking forward to seeing the film when it’s released this November what do you guys think?

Xopher Reed Morning Cup o’ Industrial

Posted by Xopher Reed On August - 28 - 2009   ZERO COMMENTS | 3 views

Ministry, the gods of Industrial music + a Bob Dylan song = One of the best songs to ever come out of the industrial metal scene in almost 20 years. You’re sincerely doing yourself a dis-service if you’ve never listened to anything from Ministry, even their synthpop beginnings aren’t that bad if you frame them in the era they were made.

“Lay Lady Lay” is featured on the group’s Filth Pig which sought to make a statement to the British Parliament after they dismissed Al Jourgensen as a ‘filthy pig’ and is by far the band’s best work to date.

Brad Holman WHY THE F*CK: M$’s Wireless Adapter

WHY THE FUCK!?!?

WHY THE FUCK!?!?

Ooooooh, this makes me so angry that I’m really tempted to go join in the lynching tonight on the town square. I need to hit something.

There’s been a rumor floating around the internet that the lower priced 360 Elite would ship with the M$ wireless adapter packaged in. Xbox fans were hopeful this rumor would be true cuz for them it would mean the next time their 360 crapped out on them, FREE WIRELESS. YAY!! HUGS AND KISSES FOR ALL!

RIGHT??

Just google “Let’s get ready to rumble.” It’s valid to me.

Ladies in Gentlemen welcome to the main event tonight. To my left, weighing in at 3 games, 6 platforms with a career record of 3 successes and 0 failures……INFINITY WARD!!! And in this corner, weighing in at 2 games, 2 expansion packs and 6 platforms with a record of 1 success and 3 failures….TREYARCH!!!

Xopher Reed Beyond Good & Evil 2 – On Hold

Posted by Xopher Reed On August - 27 - 2009   1 COMMENT | 8 views

Pey'j never looked more awesome than in this screenshot.

Sorry guys, it looks like today is just rife with bad news, this one being about the status of the sequel to one of the best games that nobody ever played: Beyond Good & Evil.

According to a tweet from Gamersyde, the game has been for sure put ‘on hold’ which never bodes well for any game, much less one that people would kill to see a sequel to.

admit it, you can hear the one-winged angel song playing in your head right now cant you?

The guys over at VG247 should be applauded for asking direct and difficult questions to game companies and the people who make them. They recently caught up with two of Square’s big-names at GamesCom last week and asked what everyone else has been thinking.

Xopher Reed Xbox 360 Pricemania 2009!

Posted by Xopher Reed On August - 27 - 2009   1 COMMENT | 8 views

and just like that...america's wallets grew two sizes larger and people started snatching up systems for each room of the house

Ok whores, I’ve seen tons and tons of posts all over the internet about price changes and SKUs and all sorts of other shit that Microsoft has finally come out and said that they’re doing. I’ve decided to put it all in one convenient place to help cut down on the confusion.

Xopher Reed Morning Cup o’ Industrial

Shame on you if you’ve never heard of God Lives Underwater, did you not see Johnny Mnemonic like all good geeks who were alive in 1995? For shame!!!

Anyways, GLU is the 1st band that I ever saw live in concert. It was these guys, Korn, and KMFDM all in one show. It was sensational. The track for today “No More Love” is probably the band’s most easily identified as a single used on the movie soundtrack for Johnny Mnemonic back when Keanu Reeves actually had a career.

Besides being on the JM soundtrack, you can also find this song on the album Empty or on their first EP God Lives Underwater. I suggest you pick up both albums…the one for the movie, not so much.
