Xopher Reed Hitler Should Have Made a Down-Payment…

Posted by Xopher Reed On February - 27 - 2009   ZERO COMMENTS | 8 views

Caught this video when I was trying to find the Upright Citizens Brigade skit about Ass Pennies. This will just have to do. If you’ve paid attention to the current credit crisis and housing bubble, it’ll have you rolling after about 2 minutes when he asks everyone who warned him about the housing bubble to leave the room. More funny Adolf clips in the coming weeks, stay tuned.

Timothy Garza Fighting Masters – SNK Boss Syndrome

Welcome to a possibly new weekly feature if I have the will to do it – Fighting Masters. The title is taken from one of the shittiest fighting games I ever played on the Genesis.

To kick this (possibly) weekly feature off, I’m going to start not with a fighting game, but with one character specifically and a “feature” of most SNK Fighters. The feature is SNK Boss Syndrome.

If like me you are addicted to SFIV then drag yourself away for a moment and play some Flash games. It will do your thumbs good.

So you’ve picked up SFIV and you’ve been playing it for a few days. As you continue to grind through the game with it set on ‘Easiest’ difficulty to unlock characters, you think to yourself, “Man… this game is pretty damn easy.” Well my friend, there is a whole world of depth that awaits you, if you invest the time to discover it. You will lose a lot at first, you will curse people, you will blame everything outside of your actual inability to win… but when that moment hits you, that moment when you have seized the flow of a fight, there’s no going back. Once you have stepped into the Street Fighter rabbit hole, you will want to know where, or if, it ends. Ok, so now we fast-forward a bit, to the point when you have everyone unlocked and you are ready to begin fighting for real. Where do you start? Who do you pick, why do you pick them, and what moves do you use? If you are a seasoned SF veteran, this most likely will not apply to you, but who knows, you might learn something new or be willing to add something that I forgot. If you are relatively new to the SF scene and want a little help, continue reading.

Brad Holman Big Popa’s Weekend Anthem: Street Fighting Edition

Posted by Brad Holman On February - 27 - 2009   1 COMMENT | 10 views

So after a couple week hiatus, Weekend Anthem is back and ready to go again. I picked these videos for one reason, and one reason only….I’m obsessed with Street Fighter 4. Yeah, you heard me. If you have been listening to RLR, you’ll know I haven’t really been interested in the game but some friends convinced me to pick it up. I have grown a love/hate relationship with the game. I love playing it with friends but I hate all the people better than me. Guess I’ll just need to hire a korean kid to be me and kick ass while I reap all the respect and rewards and I pay Yu in rice and dumplings.

Evan Burkey Weeaboo Wednesday: Detroit Metal City

Posted by Evan Burkey On February - 25 - 2009   1 COMMENT | 44 views

I love metal, so when I heard that there was a series called Detroit Metal City (an obvious play on KISS’s Detroit Rock City) that was about a crazy metal band, I had to see it. I’ve always been a fan of Japanese metal, and a comedy OVA series about the subject sounded right up my alley. Let me tell you, Detroit Metal City does not disappoint.

I know you’re just devastated at the news of this but unfortunately your favourite neighbourhood furry Gandysampras won’t be joining us this week as he has no access to a PC right now, so it’s just me and Bunnyrabbit2 for some one on one action. Topic wise, well fuck it who cares.  We welcome any questions so either post one in the comments thread or shoot me an e-mail at Gibbo@Mediawhorenetwork.com. We also welcome segments for the break. Now go and fap in anticipation for the next episode!

Brad Holman RLR Episode 15: The Ex-less Episode

Posted by Brad Holman On February - 25 - 2009   ZERO COMMENTS | 14 views

Welcome one and all to another great episode of the Red Light Roundtable. In this episode, Excremento was mysteriously absent and so left all his hosting duties to myself. In this episode you have myself, king3vbo, thef1sh and our crazy punching bag from that frozen land of Canada, Vlambo.

For all you gamers out there, you will like this episode as we almost exclusively talk about videogames for the entire hour. I know, surprising right? But that’s what happens when you get 4 of the best gamers ever…..to log in to MWN.

Here’s a little summary of the show for ya.

  • Street Fighter IV and everything associated with it
  • FEAR 2 and why we don’t really want it
  • American Mcgee’s new project
  • Xblades and the reason more companies need girls in thongs
  • Tshirthell.com is NOT going out of business, thank God

Enjoy.

Andy Lionhead Staff Hocking Their Wares

Posted by Andy On February - 24 - 2009   1 COMMENT | 20 views

Looks like some of the staff at Lionhead are having themselves a clear out. Jamie Durrant, a senior artist and sculptor is selling a one of a kind latex Hobbe mask he created for display in the Lionhead offices on eBay. To be honest I’m actually rather taken by this piece, I was a huge fan of the first Fable despite it’s shortcomings and I would love to own such a unique item. However the auction is running through March 1st and is already at £91.00 at the time of writing this so I expect the price will skyrocket as the date draws closer. A little to rich for my blood.

Andy This Just In: I Suck At Street Fighter IV

Posted by Andy On February - 24 - 2009   2 COMMENTS | 27 views

Well, after getting Street Fighter IV this past Friday I have come to the conclusion that I am even worse than when I was a chillun playing on SFII on the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis for you Yanks). I spent the best part of three hours facing off against Seth today. I was greeted with loss after loss with my best character from SFII, Vega. Bear in mind this was on easiest difficulty and the sad fact gets sadder. I was going to blame the 360 controller for being “teh suck” as the kids say, but after time I realised that I had actually got used to compensating for the analogue stick use. It wasn’t like I was busting out supers and ultras at whim, but I could get them out eventually. After finally rage-quitting during my 3000th ass pounding from Seth I thought I would give online play a go. This was an even stupider idea, apparently the computer controlled characters aren’t cheap enough, so to compensate for this you are only allowed to spam one move for the entirety of each match.

At 12 years old, most of us are just getting out of our toy phase and beginning our attempts to try and be “cool”. For some of us, puberty had started to kick in and we were wondering why the wee wee bank in our pants is going hard whenever we see those cootie carriers. Most of us were probably enjoying our fair share of video games too. From this article however it seems that puberty hit music star Kanye West a little early, or at least the sudden sexual thoughts did.

You see, while we were trying to stop these sudden appearence of “spots”, Kanye West was unleashing the horny little fuck inside him by making “video games” of all things. In an interview with some US magazine I assume, West reveals that he once made a “very sexual” game that was “like Mario Brothers, but the ghosts were, like, vaginas.” He also says that his character was a “giant penis” and that it had “little feet, and eyes“. Sounds like one of the worms then from the game of the same name, just as a sidescroller with enemies. Either way, it made me laugh and cheered my day up a bit. However I doubt that West is being completely truthful claiming that he was programming games at 12 years old.

With my daughter almost reaching three years old and being easier to manage in general, my wife and I have started getting back into inviting our friends over for Game Night, not to be confused with Swingers Night. We’ve done this for years now, breaking out the Scrabble or Cranium games, adding in some alcohol, and just had a blast.

You didn’t want to do any work this afternoon. Right?

Just like remembering that time a drunken Uncle Jack stumbling into your room at 2AM asking you to pet his snake, Hollywood is now assaulting my childhood memories. Now we’ve already been subjected to this in a different way with our old TV shows jumping to the big screen. With the upcoming releases of GI Joe and Transformers 2, this trend won’t end soon either. But no, Hollywood now has it in for some of your favorite movies from the past.

Jamie Gibson Spotify, The Next Step From Last.fm

spotify

For the last week now I’ve been trying a little program called Spotify and I have to say I’m quite impressed. First off, I’ve always been a fan of Last.fm. It was a great way to listen to music free and legally and personally I loved the recommendation system, which actually did a pretty good job at finding music that would suit your interests. It ’s a radio system so that you can’t just pick the music you want to listen to which I can understand. After all, it could be commercial suicide for the record companies so it’s not surprising that you can only listen to a radio system. However, it seems that now, some record companies have decided to take that risk by supporting Spotify.
