Jamie Gibson Weekend PSAs: Call Graph Can Die In A Fire Edition

Posted by Jamie Gibson On January - 31 - 2009   1 COMMENT | 8 views

I know Gandy experienced nerdrage on Tuesday and I was close to. I didn’t explain it in the WORT recording post but basically we recorded WORT2 all fine and dandy, except the recording file only outputted Gandy’s voice. But for some reason Call Graph played the raw podcast fine. Very confusing. At one point I was talking to Call Graph support but they left. Guess it just goes to show that at least with MX Skype Recorder you’re getting what you pay for. Basically, instead of 2 weeks you’ll have to wait 4 weeks for WORT2 now. Anyways, onto our PSAs of this weekend. We’ve got NARCS in a half shell, a speed comparison and

Drug PSA -- TMNT: Joey’s Got Smart

You’ve seen Peewee Herman, you’ve seen Clint Eastwood and now ladies and gentlemen I present to you the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES! NARCS IN A HALF SHELL! NARC POWER! Ok it’s a run of the mill 1980s Drug PSA and it’s not like the Ninja Turtles were the only cartoon stars to appear into Drug PSAs but it’s still a funny advert. First off, since when were the Turtles teachers? I’m so angry I didn’t get them as teachers when I was little. I got Mrs.Bird but no Mr.Turtles. Secondly, that must be the youngest drug dealer ever and finally, “I’m not a chicken, you’re a turkey!” Ladies and gentlemen, you just witnessed the greatest insult of all time.

Hit the jump for the remaining two PSAs.

Andy Friday Flash 30/01/08: The Late Edition

As a consolation to Friday Flash coming a little late in the day today here’s a larger selection of games than usual. (See BPG I do love you ).

Brad Holman True love cannot be hidden.

I read a very disturbing story the other day. My friend, ProfPew, had witnessed what I believe to be a union between our very own Excremento and our UK Editor, Gandysampras. Now, I’m not doubting Pew at all, I’ve seen the way that they look at each other. So after some digging through the Internet, I found this little gem that pretty much proves Gandy is gay and Excremento loves furries.

Brad Holman BigPopa’s Weekend Anthem: Superbowl Edition

Posted by Brad Holman On January - 30 - 2009   ZERO COMMENTS | 7 views

Am I the only one looking forward to this sunday? I have heard several people I know act like they hate the Superbowl or something. I mean, it is only the most watched event on TV every year. It’s only the most popular sport in America after all (and screw you NASCAR fans). Anyways, I know I have big weekend plans. Tomorrow is my 25th birthday and I have something special planned for all of you so keep your eyes open and check us out again tomorrow.

All my anthems this weekend are sports movie related so if you don’t like sports movies, than you won’t like these. For the other 99% of you, enjoy my selections.

Here Comes the Boom by Nelly – The Longest Yard

I happen to love the remade version of The Longest Yard. This song always gets me pumped up for whatever I’m about to do. Call me strange or stupid, but I like it.
There’s a few more after the jump.

Greg Lockwood Happy Birthday Christian Bale!

bale

Yes, today is Christian Bale’s birthday. Now, if we did a post on every celebrity’s birthday, we would never be able to keep up, but Christian Bale is not every celebrity, hell, he’s not even a celebrity. He is our Lord, He is the great He Is. This is because only a holy being could turn around the Batman series the way He did, only a holy being could have made American Psycho, and for His next miracle He will revive the Terminator series after Terminator 3 and the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Licensed games. The 8-bit and 16-bit eras had loads of them, and surprisingly a lot of them were great. Tiny Toons Adventures, Felix the Cat, and Aladdin, just to name a few. But it’s just fate that there also be some pretty bad licensed games, and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends is the worst of the worst.

What can I say about Rocky and Bullwinkle? I never played this game as a kid, but I was at a retro videogame store a year or so ago and saw it for around 2 bucks, so I figured why not pick it up? I always liked the Rocky & Bullwinkle TV show as a kid, so the videogame adaptation would probably be decent right?

No. No, no, and no. This game is all that is unholy about videogames. It makes modern-day shovelware look like fucking masterpieces. But let me be more specific. The graphics look like they were done in MS Paint, and that is being harsh to MS Paint, because I have seen some good things done with it. The graphics look like if you gave a monkey a pencil for outlines and a crayon for fill and told him to go to town. On top of that the gameplay is horrendous. There’s really no way to attack besides lobbing bombs, and you can’t control their distance, so you can’t do anything about it when Boris is lobbing bombs at you, or any of the other enemies attack you. For a game that consists of any platforming, the collision detecting is god-awful as well.

I’m not going to lie, I never got very far in this game, so I don’t know if things pick up later in the game, but no mortal being can blame me. You fucking go pick it up and try to play it. Tell me you last longer than 5 minutes. If you say you do, you’re a fucking liar. The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends is the worst piece of coding to ever be called a videogame.

Xopher Reed Blogging About Video Games is NOT Journalism

I started MediaWhoreNetwork mainly because I was tired of going to some sites that I used to frequent quite often only to find that they had become more or less the same site. The wish to become more and more mainstream ended up homogenizing the content on each of them until we were left with essentially the same product, just in a differen’t wrapper.

One of the bigger problems anime fans run into is the method of how we get our sweet, sweet anime. If money isn’t an issue, then buying overpriced DVD sets is the way to go. If you’re like me, and money is tight, you have to resort to seedier methods like bittorrent. However, I’ve discovered a legitimate way to get a substantial amount of anime on the cheap. My friends, let me introduce you to the wonderful world of Netflix.

Netflix offers both DVDs through the mail and streaming movies over the Internet. They have multiple service plans, but the one that I have and think is the best deal is the 1 at-a-time plan. This plan allows you to have 1 DVD sent to you by mail, and gives you unlimited streaming from their instant streaming selection. As a movie aficionado, the instant streaming definitely caught my eye. No more searching for worthwhile torrents or buying overpriced DVDs is definitely worth my $8.99 a month. In case you’re still on the fence, here’s some reasons why you might want to take a look at Netflix.

maxio Max’s vinyl trip: Unknown Pleasures – Joy Division

the cover. spacey shot but had to rotate because i took the picture with the cover upside down.

My last review was about Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ made by already well established posh people that have had success before, while this album is made by a bunch of Manchester guys that just started a band and accepted any applications. It’s kind of a right place right time thing. Both are from 1979 but of course they are very different.

Xopher Reed I Love Japan: Gackt – Mars

I’m venturing that a good portion of the people visiting this site (minus me, King, and Styos) don’t know who Kamui Gackt is. Let’s just say that the man is a huuuuuge star over in Japan and the subject of today’s I <3 Japan article, though more accurate to say his masterpiece album Mars.

Ryan Wilson It Came from Obscurity: Repo! The Genetic Opera

Repo! The Genetic Opera

As evident in a previous episode of Red Light Roundtable, we here at MediaWhoreNetwork are big fans of musicals. However, you won’t see us going to Broadway to see the umpteenth performance of “Mamma Mia!”. We like our musicals strange and unique (sorry ABBA, but another rendition of “Dancing Queen” and I’ll have to sodomize myself with a broken salt shaker). Repo!: The Genetic Opera is as strange and unique as you can get.

Brad Holman The Worst Commercial Ever: Thanks Microsoft

Posted by Brad Holman On January - 27 - 2009   2 COMMENTS | 12 views

I don’t know if I have ever seen more of an abortion of a commercial than this one that Microsoft made for their Songsmith software. I know most of you have probably already seen it, but yesterday was my songsmith-cherry-popping day. So who is strong enough to watch the whole thing?

Seriously, can you make it anymore gay? I just kept waiting for king3vbo to walk out at some point, that would have really confirmed the gayness.. Hit the jump to see some examples of when great classics are played through Songsmith. If you dare.

Time to drop them britches and get on the scale. See the results of week 1 after the jump.

Xopher Reed A Weird Kid’s Top 10 — Games That Deserved Sequels

Posted by Xopher Reed On January - 26 - 2009   3 COMMENTS | 11 views

LOL @ BUBSY2

It’s rather unfortunate for us gamers, in that we aren’t as lucky as fans of books, music, or movies just for the fact that the majority of games released will never ever see a sequel. Even if there is fan support and we think that it would be a good idea and that they ‘deserve’ one, it’s more likely than not that it won’t.

In planning this top ten, I wanted to establish a few criteria:

  • The game had to be the only one of its series
  • No sequels rumored or planned
  • No sequels that do exist

So with that, let’s get started on the topic and the victim of today’s top 10, my list of the games that are beloved by me (among others) and that I think are deserve a sequel. I’ll see you at the end.

Jamie Gibson Whores Of The Round Table Episode 2 records this week

Posted by Jamie Gibson On January - 26 - 2009   5 COMMENTS | 6 views

Well something fucked up with our recording and so we only got Gandy’s voice, so we’re all pretty pissed. Nevertheless we’ll try to get another podcast done this week but since we talked about our original topic in the WORT that will never be, we have decided to change the topic to what made us, history. Like before, please send any questions and segments to Gibbo@mediawhorenetwork.com. Now I’m gonna try and release the stress from the fucking recording messing up.
