Xopher Reed RLR Episode 3: PAX and Video Games

Posted by Xopher Reed On August - 29 - 2008   2 COMMENTS | 8 views

Welcome back faithful listeners! Episode 3 of the Red-Light Rountable brings your hosts Xopher and BigPopaGamer together to discuss whats going on this week as we’re gearing up for PAX, and about the games we’re looking forward to and the games we’ve played this year.

We were lucky enough to get a call in the middle of recording this week’s episode from Coonskin to help us along with the main topic. We think that the new segments worked really well this week, especially since both Thef1sh and Gibbo provided user segments for us to play at the break.

Give it a listen and let us know what you think. I do apologize for the “I’m-talking-into-a-fan” voice that popped up during the first portion of the show, we’re working on making sure that doesn’t happen for episode 4. As always, you can email us at: RLR@MediaWhoreNetwork.com for feedback on the episode. Thanks for listening!

Passionate Styos More retro sex on the go: N+

Posted by Passionate Styos On August - 29 - 2008   ZERO COMMENTS | 3 views

I know that most of you aren’t that fond of handhelds and their short games, but what the hell, I’m a retro fag as well, and N+ has that retro felling. The hard difficulty, simple graphics, no need for a complex story, and is insanely addictive to keep you begging for more retro goodness.

Then again, it’s a game that is based from a flash game that is free for everyone. Maybe you’d think “Why the hell would I want to pay 20 dorra for a free flash game?”. Well, this game is not for everyone and let me tell you why.

Xopher Reed Why Do People Use These?

There’s something I’ve noticed at my work, and I try not to but I can’t help it at times. Whenever I use the public toilets here in the building I just sit on the seat, maybe do a little wiping of any particulates that might have accumulated on it, but I never use one of those fucking retarded paper ass-gaskets.

What else is there to say? I think the guy’s comic hasn’t been funny for a long time. Before you get on me for having a CAD comic on the site a few articles down…keep in mind that isn’t my article and I don’t censor my writers. I honestly can’t stand the guy. I would have scanned the comic if I had a full color scanner at work, I just wanted to put this up since it’s a really really slow day.

Xopher Reed Rent This Movie – Never Back Down

Posted by Xopher Reed On August - 27 - 2008   ZERO COMMENTS | 6 views

I thought that this video was real until I did a little research and found out that it was from a movie called Never Back Down. After seeing this, I don’t care if everyone says that it’s the current generation’s The Karate Kid, I’m going to go out and pick this up as soon as I can. That scene was just amazing. The best thing is that I heard that there’s even a training montage with a song, cause everyone knows that every movie needs a montage!

Jamie Gibson Slightly Whorifying – The Batman Superman Movie

The Batsy Supey...Movey?

Remember Batman: The Animated Series? If you don’t, it was a Batman cartoon from the 1990’s, and is generally considered one of the best cartoon series of its time. With great renditions of the usual rogue gallery of Batman villains as well as fun action and story, it’s good to watch even now. One villain that is strongly remembered in the series was the Joker, voiced brilliantly by Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars series). Also remembered was his female accomplice/lover, Harley Quinn, who became so popular that she became a fully fledged character in the DC Universe, getting her own comic book series. So, as with any great series, there was bound to be a few televised movies of it. The first one that comes to mind is Return of the Joker, which tied together Batman: TAS with Batman Beyond, and is a good movie in it’s own right. There was also Mask of the Phantasm, which I haven’t seen. Then we come to The Batman/Superman Movie. This was a tie-in movie with the counterpart series, Superman: The Animated Series and ended up creating a crossover series on it’s own. Still this isn’t too great.

Jamie Gibson Take a Bus on the Wild Side – Or How Buses Hate Us

EVIL!

So, today began smoothly, for once. I’d arranged to go into the neighbouring city with a friend. We took the Public Bus Service into the city since the nearest train station is about a half hour walk. We came into the city with no problems and spent an hour or two looking at things we can’t buy (the Rock Band drums teased me to no end). At around 5pm, after having a quarter-pounder and milkshake, it was time to use our return tickets and go home. That’s when all hell broke loose.

Xopher Reed Red-Light Roundtable Episode 3 Teaser

With the imminent arrival of PAX this week, the Whores at MWN have but one topic on their minds at the moment: Video Games.

I’ve been waiting to have a video game show for weeks now and I already know the largest bit of the show this week will be devoted to the games we’ve really enjoyed this year so far. We will also be talking about the various events that populate our lives with games to lust over, the developers we love that attend said events, and their products that we are excited to see.

You see, a big chunk of the staff here at this website are dedicated gamers who have probably had almost a century and a half of combined gaming experience. It’s not bad enough that we are part of the ‘hardcore’ mindset of gamer, but we are also notorious Internet geeks who watch porn, drink heavily, and have opinions on everything.

With that being said, we will be experiencing a bit of a format change. We’ll still have the rants, the user breaks, the main topics, and the intros/outros, but we also are going to add a few new features first up is “What’s Up Doc” where we discuss what we’ve been doing in the week (whether it be drinking, gaming, fapping, etc), a “User Questions/Comments” section (which is pretty self-explanatory), and finally a “Pick of the Week” segment where we discuss our main ‘pick’ for the week. It could be a new TV show, a video game, a comic book, or even a new beer we found, rest assured it will be entertaining and a good time for all.

Any users out there that want their segment to be used during the break should submit it to me email: Xopher.Reed@mediawhorenetwork.com, you can also email me any questions that you want us to ponder over and discuss. Recording is slated to happen either tonight or tomorrow night, so get off your asses you sluts and submit stuff!

Xopher Reed RLR Episode 2: 80’s Cartoons

Thank you all for being so patient while we’ve been settling and working on making this the best site for your entertainment needs.

We recorded this podcast a little over a week ago on Sunday and have been working our asses off to make it better than our initial episode. Luckily, with a topic this epic and 3 guys who loved watching cartoons as kids, we had plenty to talk about. We now present it to you, episode 2 of the Red-Light Roundtable!

Seeing how the topic was one that we all had experience with, we all had a blast talking about our favorite cartoons of the 1980s. We even got into how these shows developed us into the people that we are today. The rant section of this episode is especially great for Popa’s open threat to Microsoft about his Xbox 360 red-ringing on him. Following the podcast tradition, I neglect my duties as host to keep the discussion on topic. That’s ok really, it’s all entertainment in my book.

Ctrl Alt Delete Too Human Comic

I have a big confession to make (*Cue Audience Gasp*). I am a huge geek. To be honest, working in the Information Technology industry, being a geek or a nerd is a must. If you weren’t you would go batshit insane and try to wear someones head as you drove around the country.

I’m not a Star Trek geek, those guys are total losers (Ed note: Hey, I’m gay for old Kirk you bastard — X). I enjoyed Star Trek: The Next Generation just like every other person; I thought Patrick Stewart was great as the captain of the Enterprise. However, I am what you would call a cyberpunk geek, which is probably worse now that I think about it.

Ryan Wilson Strange Brews: The 9/11

Here it is…the ultimate drink intended to offend.

The 9/11

First, its history. I was not the creator of this drink, that honor goes to a friend of mine, Liam. However, I was one of the firsts to experience it. The drink was created as a response to the Irish Car Bomb, a very tasty drink consisting of a Guinness, Irish cream, and Irish Whiskey. As much as we loved the drink, we knew ordering it at most Irish bars would likely get our asses kicked. So Liam sought out to create the most offensive drink in both taste and American sensitivity. A drink you could never order at a bar. Thus was born the 9/11.

If you aren’t already pissed off at me, read ahead.

Ryan Wilson How to Market a Uwe Boll DVD

If you didn’t know that shit director Uwe Boll was attached to this film, would you be able to tell by looking at this box?

No? This is DVD marketing at its best (or worse, if you’re the sucker who buys the film)

Xopher Reed Blizzard Makes Damn Fine CG

Posted by Xopher Reed On August - 21 - 2008   ZERO COMMENTS | 1 views

I just caught this clip a few minutes ago…it’s really too bad that the rest of the world of Azeroth doesn’t look as gorgeous as it appears in this clip. I’m sorry guys, but the days of gaming where the CG looks better than the in-game graphics is approaching an end.

Frankly I’m amazed that they’re trying so hard to make this game so good looking. You’d have thought by now that they would pull an EA and start releasing shit to the immensely large install base. I’m glad to see that they still care about the product they make, though it makes me wonder how much longer until they do?!?

Jamie Gibson My Impressions of Red Faction: Guerrilla

Posted by Jamie Gibson On August - 21 - 2008   ZERO COMMENTS | 5 views

So like many others, I recently got my hands on the Red Faction: Guerrilla Beta. At first, I didn’t have any luck getting a beta code until Demi (aka Gynecologist Cobra, aka ElectroLemon) of Destructoid’s Community Blogs suggested using a proxy. Then it was simply a matter of lying my way into the beta. So with that, I thought that I’d share my impressions on the beta, even though I shouldn’t be playing it, but hey, I wasn’t the one who let it be exploited by a proxy.

Xopher Reed Bionic Commando: Rearmed is Retro SEX

Posted by Xopher Reed On August - 21 - 2008   ZERO COMMENTS | 5 views

The first game that I ever recieved for my NES is one that I have rambled on and on about for over 20 years now. Bionic Commando was one of those rare gems for a system that wasn’t known exactly for its technical prowess. To this day, it remains one of the few 8-bit games that manages to impress me each time that I play it.

I nearly had a heart attack when I found out last year that not only were they doing a remake of the game for the current generation systems, but they were also producing a refreshed version of the classic platformer that I knew and loved from my childhood. I can only hope that the generation that came after mine is willing to pony up the measly $10 bucks needed to play one of the most enjoyable games I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning on Xbox Live Arcade.
